Privacy Policy
What we collect, what we don't, and where it goes.
Last updated 26 August 2026
ElectroVision is operated by River Angel Technologies Inc. ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the ElectroVision mobile app collects and how it is handled.
The short version
- Your appliance photos are not stored on our servers. They stay on your device.
- We never ask for, and never store, payment card details.
- We don't sell your data or share it with advertisers.
- When you scan a utility bill, our system is explicitly instructed to ignore your name, address, and account number.
Information we collect
Account information
If you create an account, we store your email address and an authentication record. Passwords are hashed by our authentication provider and are never visible to us. You can use a limited version of the app without an account.
Property and appliance data
When you build an energy profile, we store the details you enter: property names, approximate square footage, number of occupants, your electricity rate, the appliances you add, how often you use them, and any utility readings or billing totals you choose to record. This is the data the app needs in order to estimate your energy use.
We do not ask for your home address. A property is identified only by whatever name you give it.
Photographs
When you scan a room, an appliance, a meter, or a bill, the photo is transmitted to our processing service to be analyzed, and the resulting description (for example, "refrigerator, good condition") is saved to your account. The image itself is not saved to our servers or our database. The photo remains in your device's storage, and the app stores only a reference to its location on that device.
Photographs are processed by Anthropic's API. Anthropic does not use data submitted through its API to train its models, and images are deleted after processing. See Anthropic's privacy policy.
Utility bills
Bill scanning exists to read one thing: your total kilowatt-hours and amount due, so the app can calibrate its estimates against reality. The instructions given to our analysis service explicitly prohibit extracting your name, service address, account number, or phone number, even when those details are visible in the photograph. We store only the usage and cost figures.
Technical information
To prevent abuse of our scanning service, we temporarily record IP addresses and scan counts. These are held in memory for rate-limiting purposes and are not used to build a profile of you.
Payments
Subscriptions are processed by Apple through in-app purchase. Apple handles the transaction; we receive only confirmation of whether your subscription is active. We never see or store your card number, billing address, or any other payment details.
How your data is protected
Account data is stored with row-level security enforced at the database level, meaning your records are only accessible with your own credentials. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS).
No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security, but we do not store the categories of data that would be most damaging in a breach — no payment details, no home addresses, no photographs.
Service providers
We use a small number of third parties to operate the app:
- Supabase — account authentication and database storage.
- Anthropic — image analysis. Does not train on API data.
- Heroku (Salesforce) — application hosting.
- Apple — subscription payments and App Store distribution.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
Your choices
- Access and correction — your data is visible and editable inside the app.
- Deletion — you can clear a property's data in the app, or email us to request full account deletion. We will delete your account and associated data.
- Use without an account — the app offers a limited experience without registering.
- Photo permissions — camera and photo access are requested only when you use a scanning feature, and can be revoked in your device settings.
Children
ElectroVision is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
